Biography
From the very beginning, all the odds were against Babette Eileen Byrd. Her father was in jail and while her mother had quit drugs for Betty’s sake, she relapsed shortly after Betty was born. Her childhood wasn’t entirely abysmal though. Betty was born on June 13th, 1990 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Her father wanted Betty and her mother to live comfortably while he was away and set Betty’s mother up with some cash and a house. However, the perfect suburban home that Betty’s father had picked out for them slowly began to deteriorate as Betty’s mother’s drug addiction worsened. Eventually, Betty’s mother found herself in a heap of debt and was forced to move elsewhere with Betty.

Heavily under the influence of drugs, it made sense for Betty’s mother to move them to the nearest city, Philadelphia. The rent was cheap and the drugs that her mother depended on so much were much more accessible in Kensington. Kensington frightened five-year-old Betty. It was a cosmic change of scenery. And shortly after their move, Betty’s mother overdosed and passed away, leaving Betty all alone in the Philadelphia Badlands. None of Betty’s relatives wanted to claim her. They didn’t want anything to do with her problematic parents or their offspring. This forced Betty into the foster care system.

Betty spent years in and out of foster homes. She eventually found the right family and home for her. She was fortunate enough to be adopted by a fairly well-to-do family who lived in Rittenhouse, a much more posh area of Philadelphia. But growing up in the Badlands was traumatizing and Betty wanted nothing more than to leave the state itself. She used this as motivation in high school. At age sixteen, she graduated early. Afterwards, she decided to attend University of Georgia.

Betty's college experience was typical. She joined a sorority during her freshmen year and regrettably drank out of a lot of red Solo cups. But it was a short-lived experience. Betty graduted from UGA early as well. She was a bright, young woman set on making a much better life for herself. Betty promised herself that she'd never return to her "old" life.

Shortly after earning her degree in Computer Systems Engineering, Betty was accepted to Georgia Institue of Technology. Upon earning her Computational Science and Engineering M.S., she began working as a Computer Forensics Analyst for the Atlanta Police Department. After over a decade, Betty grew complacent and was drawn to Boston, Massachusetts mostly because of Harvard University. A doctorate degree? Why not? In the beginning of May 2018, she moved to Boston.

Batgirl
Barbara Eileen Gordon left her family when her daughter was a young teen. A few years later, the Batman debuted. This inspired young Barbara to become Batgirl. Soon, she began working with Batman and his teen partner Robin. After about a year as Batgirl, Barbara retreated from her role. Shortly after, she was shot in the spine by the Joker.

Looking for other ways to fight, Barbara became a hacker and information broker, donned the Oracle identity and founded the Birds of Prey. After three years her father found a clinic where Barbara could be cured. Barbara underwent surgery and received a cybernetic implant on her neck's nape. She fully recovered and returned to her position as Batgirl.
