Heavily under the influence of drugs, it made sense for Stella’s mother to move them to the nearby city, Philadelphia. The rent was cheap and the drugs that Stella’s mother depended on so much were much more accessible in Kensington. Kensington frightened five-year-old Stella. It was a cosmic change of scenery. And shortly after their move, Stella’s mother overdosed and passed away, leaving Stella all alone in the Philadelphia Badlands. None of Stella’s relatives wanted to claim her. They didn’t want anything to do with her problematic parents or their offspring. This forced Stella into Pennsylvania’s foster care system.
Stella spent years in and out of foster homes. She eventually found the right family and home for her. She was fortunate enough to be adopted by a fairly wealthy family who lived in a much posher area of Philadelphia. But growing up in the Philadelphia Badlands was traumatizing and Stella wanted nothing more than to leave the state itself. She used this and her good fortune as motivation in high school. Stella’s dedication paid off when she was accepted to several different universities.
A variety of reasons drew Stella to Boston, Massachusetts which ultimately aided her in choosing MIT. In 2016, she graduated from MIT with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. A year later, Stella is currently still living in Boston. She’s presently contemplating whether to seek out her biological father while juggling a range of personal issues.
